Welcome
to the Congenital Cardiovascular Genetics Program
  Children’s Hospital Boston

Families, the world over, come to Children’s Hospital seeking cardiac care for their children. Some of the most frequent questions posed by families are “Why did this happen to my child; to our family? Could this happen to us again?”

In response, the Congenital Cardiovascular Genetics Program was developed. It recognizes that these simple, sensitive, but important questions, merit better answers than can currently be provided.  This service is comprised of both clinical care and research.

Congenital heart disease (CHD) may be isolated or part of a larger developmental process. Sometimes a child may have several medical and/or developmental concerns. CHD may be more prevalent in a particular family than expected.  The clinical care section is designed to provide families and providers of these patients with information, services and resources.

The research section presents information about the Children’s Hospital Cardiovascular Genetics Registry and its associated projects.  It will hopefully serve as an informational resource for researchers and those with an interest in the field of cardiovascular genetics.
