Presenter Biographies
Janice Ware, PhD & Anne Gavin, PhD candidate
Dr. Ware and Anne Gavin’s work in the Developmental Medicine Center at
Children’s Hospital Boston includes developmental assessment and treatment
services for children birth thru adolescence. The center specializes in helping
children affected by a wide range of medical, developmental, behavioral and
learning challenges. The Center’s founding principle is enhancing the
coordination of services for children and families with special needs.
Nancy Sullivan, PhD
A member of the Developmental Medicine team here at Children's Hospital, Boston,
Dr. Sullivan has an expertise in learning and behavioral medicine.
Christine Finn, MD
Dr. Finn is a psychiatrist at the Massachusetts General Hospital and a
fellow in genetics at Harvard. Her clinical interests include management of the
psychiatric and behavioral symptoms of genetic syndromes. Research interests
include VCFS (especially understanding the psychiatric symptoms associated with
it) and the use of genetic information by patients and physicians.
Carolyn Romano, JD
Carolyn Romano is an attorney who has devoted the past ten years to work in
the field of children with special needs. She has worked for many years in
collaboration with the Federation for Children with Special Needs. Last year,
she joined the staff at COMPASS, a consulting service that collaborates with
public schools and districts in evaluation programs and service for children
with special needs.
Raju Kucherlapati, MD
Dr. Kucherlapati recently became the Paul C. Cabot Professor of Genetics and
Professor of Medicine at the Harvard Medical School. He is the first Scientific
Director of the Harvard-Partners Center for Genetics and Genomics. Dr.
Kucherlapati's recent research contributions include his participation in
mapping and sequencing of the human genome.
Devanshi Patel, MS
Devanshi Patel is a genetic counselor working with the Cardiovascular
Genetics Program at Children's Hospital, Boston.
Dita Obler, MS & Anne Gavin
Dita Obler, a genetic counselor working with the Cardiovascular Genetics
Program at Children's Hospital, Boston, and Anne Gavin will be available to
answer questions and help complete registration forms for an upcoming VCFS
Parent Support Group they will be co-facilitating here at Children’s Hospital.
